Southern Ocean Lodge

South Australia is home to three of Australia’s most luxurious retreats. Perhaps the most renowned is Southern Ocean Lodge; an exclusive lodge located on a cliff overlooking Hanson Bay on Kangaroo Island.

Southern Ocean Lodge, Kangaroo Island, South Australia

Each of the 21 suites looks out to the Southern Ocean; all around is bushland. The remote, wild location is matched by intimate service within modern design and plush comforts.

This is brilliantly captured in the “Great Room”, a huge open lounge and dining area where you’ll enjoy first class food (all ingredients sourced locally) and fine South Australian wines.

Lodge guests can choose from a menu of exclusive tours of the island. Indulge in a special dusk champagne event and be taken to a paddock where the kangaroos love to graze, sweetly named “Kangaroos and Kanapes”.

The Louise

The Louise is the premier property within the famous Barossa wine region. It’s a luxury vineyard retreat surrounded by hundreds of acres of grapevines. The Louise has 15 suites; it offers a private experience that brings together the very best of the Barossa’s food, wine and hospitality. A stay at the Louise is made extra-special thanks to its restaurant, Appellation, regarded as one of Australia’s finest regional dining experiences.

Delight in a range of exclusive experiences, including a “breakfast with the kangaroos”, a private wine tasting with a local artisan winemaker and a chance to blend your own wine at a nearby winery (your bottle is then labelled with your name and served at dinner!).

Arkaba Station

Arkaba Station opened in 2010 following an extensive renovation of the 170-year-old homestead. Arkaba Station is at the foot of the dramatic Chace Range in the Flinders Ranges and shares a sense of history and privilege. Up to 10 guests can stay in the property, enjoying its entire 64,000 acres. Early morning safari drives reveal remarkable wildlife (including kangaroos, wallabies and emus), a living history of sheep farming and breathtaking views of the surrounding ranges.

Take a trip to nearby Wilpena Pound, Brachina Gorge and the historic town of Blinman. On warm evenings, when cocktails are served, lounge in the outdoor pool and watch the light fading on the Chace Range. Dinner is served by candlelight on a wool classer’s table.
