Clare Valley Family Holidays
Space to stretch their legs
If your kids need a good night’s sleep, take them on a Clare Valley holiday.
It’s all about the outdoors, so by day’s end, a warm cosy bed is a welcome sight.
Holidaying in the Clare Valley is about the simple things in life. Why not hire bikes and cycle down the Riesling or Rattler Trails? Pack a picnic and stop for lunch. Roll into a winery or the next town on the trail for a well earned break.
Family fun
If it’s BMX action they want, head to Inchiquin Lake for a day of jumps and bumps. Inchiquin Lake is Clare’s main stormwater storage facility. It’s surrounded by open space recreation areas, BMX tracks, walking trails, play equipment and picnic spots. Magnificent blue gums complete this idyllic setting.
Stay the whole day and take a twilight ride on a miniature railway. There’s more than one kilometre of track, including carefully crafted tunnels and several bridges. Twilight train rides operate on the second and fourth weekend of each month.
Take a tour
Take your children to Burra for another experience they’ll never forget. Once the site of the world’s biggest copper mine, it finally closed in 1981. Collect your Burra Heritage Passport Key to walk the tunnels of the Monster Mine and through the open air museum.
Beat the maze
Visit Mintaro for an attraction that stretches your kid’s legs and minds at the same time. Made from 800 metres of conifer hedge, Mintaro Maze has fountains and giant chess games made from locally quarried slate.
Family fun, as easy as riding a bike.
